One of the most iconic apex predators in today’s oceans, the great white shark is an exceptionally large type of lamniform shark. On average they measure 4 m long, although the largest ever documented great white was exactly 6.4 m long!
Scientific Name: Carcharodon carcharias
Characteristics: Although great whites are amongst the most dangerous shark species in terms of attacks on humans, encounters are exceptionally rare and great whites are associated with less than 50 attacks yearly. Still, it’s best you study this beautifully hand painted model instead of the real thing!
Size and Color: 21.6 cm long and 7.6 cm tall, this model is a touch bigger than a 500ml bottle on its side. All great whites have slate gray skin and white undersides, which allows them to blend into both the water’s surface and ocean floor.
