The Arado Ar 240 is a German twin-engine heavy fighter and reconnaissance aircraft prototype from World War II. Work on this machine arose due to the need to replace the Messerschmitt Me 110 aircraft. The first flight took place on July 25, 1940, but due to technical and design problems, this aircraft did not leave the prototype phase and its development work was stopped at the end of 1941. . The V3, V5 and V6 versions of this prototype were removed from service and were intended for reconnaissance aircraft flying over Great Britain. A total of 14 prototypes of the Ar 240 aircraft were built.
