Artificial Intelligence (AI) is associated with the expectation of the explosion of human capabilities, and is said to hold the keys to the exponential progress and prosperity of society. The “paroxysm of optimism” for Artificial Intelligence is, however, accompanied by intense concerns about the terms, limits and implications of entrusting human activities to such systems. The reservations are reinforced by the opacity and inability to understand these systems that are characterized by autonomy. The possible negative impacts are exacerbated by the great asymmetry of power between those who develop and implement algorithmic systems and the users or those who suffer the results of these systems.
