PT-588 is an American torpedo boat from World War II. The length of the unit was 24.5 meters. The movement was provided by three Packard W-14 M2500 engines with 1500 HP each. The armament included a 40 mm gun, a 37 mm gun and 2 to 4 533 mm torpedoes. PT-588 was built at the Electric Boat Company shipyard in Bayonne, NJ. The launch of the boat took place in March 1945 and the unit was commissioned in April of the same year. Immediately after this event, she was assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron 39, part of the Pacific Fleet. PT-588 operated in the Samar area from July 1945 until the end of the war, without interacting with major Japanese forces at the time. The ship was struck from the fleet list in December 1945. Her exact postwar fate is unknown.
