The Antonov An-124 Ruslan is a modern, four-engine, heavy transport aircraft of Soviet (Ukrainian) production in a high-wing configuration of all-metal construction. The movement is provided by four Latvia D-18T twin-engine engines. The prototype flight took place in 1982. Serial production took place in the years 1982-2004 or 1984-2004. During its development, 55 aircraft of this type were created. The unit cost of such an aircraft is estimated at 70-100 million USD. Prices 2009.

The An-124 Ruslan was developed at the Antonov design bureau and work on it began in the early 1970s. Their goal was to create a heavy transport aircraft capable of transporting even the heaviest loads over distances of more than 15,000 km. Initially, it was developed for the needs of the armed forces of the USSR, and after its dissolution - it was also used as a civilian transport aircraft. At the time of the flight and public presentation, the An-124 was by far the largest aircraft in the world with a length of 69 meters and a wingspan of 73.3 meters! It is also capable of transporting cargo up to 120 tons over a distance of 16,090 kilometers. It is possible that the serial production of these huge aircraft, despite the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, will resume for the needs of the armed forces of the Russian Federation.
