The Airbus A320 is a medium-range, low-wing, twin-engine jet aircraft, mainly of Franco-German production. The movement is provided by two CFM International CFM56 or IAE V2500 turbofan engines. The prototype flew in 1987 and serial production began in 1988 and is still ongoing. By the beginning of 2016, over 6,800 aircraft of this type had been produced! The Airbus A320 was created as a machine that was to be offered mainly to European and Asian carriers as a competitor to the Boeing 727 aircraft. The manufacturer, Airbus, emphasized in the new machine mainly the use of state-of-the-art electronics, mainly the fly-by-wire system, known from the military aviation (e.g. from F-16 aircraft), but for the first time in a passenger aircraft! A new glass cockpit avionics system and a central flight management system were also used. Only a two-person crew was a complete innovation, which clearly and positively affected the operating costs of the aircraft. In addition, the A320 has - compared to the first serial versions - 50% more range than its main competitor, the Boeing 727. Due to its low reliability and the use of many avant-garde solutions, the A320 turned out to be an extraordinary commercial success for Airbus. By 2012, aircraft of this type carried 7 billion. people and flew 120 million. hours!
