The Fiat 131 is an Italian passenger car of the lower-middle class, which was first presented to the public in 1974. Its serial production took place in the years 1974-1984. The Fiat 131 was powered - depending on the version - by a wide range of engines with a displacement of 1.3 to 2 liters and a maximum power of 55 to 115 HP.

The 131 model was developed almost from scratch as a completely new car in the company's offer, which was to increase its share in the lower-middle class car segment. The car uses a steel frame with the engine located in the front. The suspension, modernized compared to previous models, was also based on MacPherson struts. From 1979, engines known from the 132 model were also used. The Fiat 131 was offered in three main body versions: sedan (marked Mirafiori or Supermirafiori), station wagon (marked Familiare and Panorama) and a sports version marked Racing, Volumetrico or Mirafiori Sport. The Fiat 131 proved to be a successful car with a production volume of about 1.5 million units. In the years 1975-1981 it was also licensed at the FSO plant in Warsaw, under the Fiat 131p brand.
