The De Havilland Tiger Moth is a British mixed-construction biplane trainer with fixed landing gear. The prototype made its first flight in 1931. The first production version, powered by the de Havilland Gipsy III engine with 120 hp, was the Mk.I. Shortly thereafter, the engine was replaced with the de Havilland Gipsy Major producing 130 hp, creating the Mk.II version. Serial production began in 1933 and continued until 1944. The Tiger Moth was one of the main training aircraft of the RAF during World War II.
