The Mikoyan-Gurevich MIG-23 is a Soviet, single-engine, variable-sweep wing attack aircraft with a classic tail. The prototype first flew on 10 June 1967 and continued to fly until 1985. The MIG-23 was clearly influenced by the design of the French Mirage G, although MIG-21PD engines were initially tested, with the MIG-21 wing, R-27-300 engine and RD-36-35 auxiliary boosters mounted vertically in the fuselage. Several versions and variants were developed: MIG-23S (MIG 21SM avionics, R-27F2M-300 engine), MIG-23M (improved aerodynamics and structure, new avionics, R-29-300 engine), MIG-23UB (2-seat training and combat vehicle) and MIG-23MLA. In 1970, an attack aircraft with an increased armament payload, the MIG-23B, was tested, which is a development of the S version. From this came the BM and BK variants. The latter was eventually renamed the MIG-27K. In total, about 3,000 of these aircraft were produced. Aircraft of this type participated in numerous conflicts, including the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988), Afghanistan (1979-1989) and the Gulf War (1990-1991). Technical data: length: 17.18 m, wingspan (maximum): 13.97 m, height: 4.82 m, maximum speed: 2.35 Ma, climb rate: 35.7 m / s, maximum range (with additional tanks): 2500 km , maximum ceiling 17500 m, armament: fixed-single, twin-barreled GSz-23Ł cannon, caliber 23 mm, suspended - up to 4500 kg of cargo. The Mikoyan-Guriewicz MIG-27 (NATO: Flogger) is nothing more than a developed version of the MIG-23 aircraft, which has the nature of an attack machine. The successively developed variants of this aircraft gradually differed more and more from the original design, and eventually the model designation MIG-23BK was replaced by a new one - MIG-27K. In addition to the K specification, three other MIG 27 variants were built: the M version, which is actually a simplified K version, the D version - i.e. older machines rebuilt according to the M standard, and the L version - produced under license in India, which was called Bahadur there, i.e. the Brave. In total, a little more than 1000 MIG 27s were produced. The power unit was the Khachaturov R-29B-300 engine. Technical data: length: 17.2 m, wingspan (maximum): 13.97 m, height: 4.82 m, maximum speed: 1.6 Ma, climb rate: 200 m / s, maximum range: 2500 km, practical ceiling: 15 500 m, armament: fixed - one six-barreled GSz-6-30 30 mm cannon, suspended - up to 4000 kg of cargo.
